We see a specific example of how our defenses are in effect just wishes and dreams in this perfect made nest. The bird clutches on to what is his, what he has made just as we cling to our own set of defenses. Made of delicate blades of grass and twigs the mighty castle in the air is made to protect and house the future generation. Intricately woven and carefully planned the structure serves as a defense from wind, rain and predators. "The whole danger of defenses lies in their propensity to hold misperceptions rigidly in place." It takes but one to break down these barriers and defenses. We hold tight to the belief that our security and stability lies at our hands alone. We separate, displace, differentiate, intellectualize our way into a certain future - or so we think. Born in South Africa, the environment, open spaces, and interpersonal interaction was a primary source of inspiration growing up. For me, Art is one place where desire to express and explore creativity becomes truly tangible. I am now primarily inspired by thoughts of the world we live in, the truths that we believe exist, and how we live these truths. My work is based on human relationships and interactions in the physical and spiritual emotional context, these I question and turn upside down and then comment on it through my art.
