Description
Whatever thought we may hold that does not equate to truth about the people in our lives generally leads to a sense of unease. There is no joy in holding on to a thought steeped in hearsay, gossip or judgement, in fact we generally hold on to these types of thought to feel 'better than' the one we think of, more special and grateful we are 'not them' [possibly the worst use of gratitude in my eyes]. This painting depicts the split mind, one which rests on love but ego steps in, grabs hold of a judgemental thought, a grievance or a bit of gossip and toils with it, discusses it, dwells on it then takes it on itself to share its laughable wisdom to the ears that may listen. And at this point the split becomes a true divide.. In that our ego whispers... 'Truth be told...' and hammers its final nail into the coffin of its victim. What truth? Who's truth?
Quickly the thought/concern/grievance twists and turns into a dark corridor of rightful justified attack, every stitch aches with the pain it causes, but unpicking becomes an impossibility. We "retain thousands of little scraps of meanness which prevent the Holy One from entering. Light cannot penetrare through the walls you make to block it". We have such a desire to be loved and to love yet we do so well in constructing a wall of meanness which becomes a fortified prison to our reality. We place a veil over 'helpfulness and concern' over our truthful intention of meanness when in truth the journey someone else is on is their journey, our duty is only to go with love regardless of their journey, as we see them, we see ourselves.
